“Nothing — not the careful logic of mathematics, not statistical models and theories, not the awesome arithmetic power of modern computers — nothing can substitute here for the flexibility of the informed human mind... Accordingly, both analysis approaches and techniques need to be structured so as to facilitate human involvement and intervention." (Tukey & Wilk, 1966)
To take the natural step forward, along with our classic print visualizations gallery, this year we're introducting a new section where you can submit exciting interactive visualizations!
Interactive Visualizations allow the exploration of challenging data sets, can be fun, and provide useful information in an efficient way. They facilitate the intuitive understanding of multidimensional data and empower users to explore information over space, time, processes, or resources by providing details on mouseover, giving different coordinated views, or panning and zooming, using heat maps, geographic maps, link charts, and a broad spectrum of special purpose visualizations, inextricably linked to the underlying analytics. Web-based data visualization and programming tools are making it easier to create complex data environments to show contrasts, complementarities, evolution, overlaps, or other dynamics of the phenomena we're trying to understand.
So join and enchant us with your creations! |
